Posted on September 21, 2023 by Penny
On Saturday, October 7, Historic Downtown Crawfordsville will be filled with the sights and sounds of traditional German heritage! The oom-pah-pah of German folk music coupled with spotting a lederhosen cladded lad, will let you know the 6th Annual Oktoberfest has arrived, and the fun is about to begin!
Music
Volksmarch to the new downtown park, Pike Place. The amphitheater stage will light up for two bands, keeping the party going all night. Hear acoustic band, Backroad Revival, and the DysFUNKtion brass band performing a pop blend of Michael Jackson, Snoop/Dre, Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam and Boyz 2 Men covers, in addition to their own originals.
Feast
Multiple food trucks and food vendors will fill the air with hearty aromas of bratwurst, sauerkraut and doughy pretzels. You’ll find additional traditional festival food like burgers and gourmet grilled cheese.
Libation
Hmmmm. What to drink? Rest assured, the Klooz Brewz beer will be flowing along with root beer, soft drinks, lemonade, iced tea and water.
Good German Fun
There are exceptional challenges that make this Oktoberfest a must-go on your social calendar! First, strut your stuff and shake your tail feathers during Indiana’s Largest Chicken Dance! Then lift those weights and get in shape for Indiana’s Largest Stein Hoist Competition. Hold straight and steady a hefty beer-filled stein the longest, and you’ll win! Show off your best underhand during the brat toss and cornhole tournament. Come dressed in your best German lederhosen and dirndl for the Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest costume contest! Boogie, laugh, wince and triumph! It’s all in good German fun!
While there are several Oktoberfest events around, make sure you attend the best! Oktoberfest in Historic Downtown Crawfordsville keeps the party, hoists, music, dancing, games and competitions going all night long! The hours are 4-10pm. All ages are welcome.
